| SOU OSPIRG is holding elections for the student Board of Directors!
What is the Board of Directors? The board is made up of students from all the chapters across the state of Oregon. The board is responsible for making decisions for the organization. Those decisions include: hiring and setting priorities for the organization with the Executive Director; developing statewide and local projects and campaigns; and approving and allocating the budget for OSPIRG.
All those who have attended at least one chapter meeting are eligible to be nominated and are eligible to make a nomination.
Our election will be held on Monday March 1st at 6pm in the SOURS Leadership Center.

COAL FREE OREGON EDUCATION WEEK. We will be getting the word out about Oregon's last remaining coal plant, Boardman, and the issues surrounding the plant. OSPIRG has formed a coalition with the Sierra Club and the Cascade Climate Network, and we have set a goal to shut down the plant by the year 2014. The plant is the number one contributor to carbon emissions in the state and number two in mercury pollution. Getting the facts out about the campaign is extremely important. We need to show Portland General Electric (PGE), the owner of the plant, that the public supports the closing of the plant. During education week, students will be petitioning to shut down the Boardman Coal Plant in the cafeteria.
Following education week, Monday, March 8, at 11:00 in the cafeteria, students will be having a rally on campus involving a flash mob and an organized march around campus with banners and chanting.
