Local Campaigns and Meeting Time
Global Warming Solutions and Powershift West:
(Campaign Coordinator Katie Taylor)
We can fight global warming!
Powershift West has come and gone (as fast as the proposed high speed train from Oregon to Vancouver B.C.). An amazing 3 day conference on Global Warming solutions that was right here in Eugene. Now that were energized: lets get out there and show the world "this is what democracy looks like".
Textbooks are expensive and there’s nothing we can do about it...Wrong!
OSPIRG is advocating for the use of free open textbooks in addition to the traditional textbooks that we pay nearly $1000 a year buying. No new editions, no bundled CD ROMs, no cost! Help us reach out to professors and get the word out!
Students Against Hunger & Homelessness:
Every day, hundreds of people in the Eugene-Springfield area go hungry and have no shelter.
This is part of a national problem of hunger and homelessness in our society. This year, OSPIRG students will go out into the community and serve the neediest people to make sure we can alleviate our local problems here.
Healthcare is out of control in this country.
We’re spending over $2 trillion a year on healthcare when we could be saving billions by cutting out wasteful spending and making healthcare work for those who need it. This country needs healthcare reform; help us make health care work.
Let’s make politicians pay attention to us! Let’s all vote.
Since 2006, the Student Vote Coalition comprised of OSPIRG, OSA, and the Bus Project have registered over 20,000 students to vote in Oregon. In 2008, youth voter turnout increased by 2.2 million voters! Let’s make history again and vote big time in the special election coming January 26th
