Health care costs way more than it should.  Consumers are forced to shoulder the costs of things that don’t actually improve care, like expensive drug marketing campaigns and excessive paperwork.  Meanwhile, insurance companies and hospitals raise rates with no accountability for their spending.

Petition Text:

I urge Oregon’s policymakers to prioritize cutting unnecessary health care costs that don’t make us healthier. 

Specifically, I urge Oregon’s policymakers to hold insurance companies and hospitals responsible for demonstrating that they are operating as cost-efficiently as possible before they are allowed to raise rates above inflation.  This would force the system to become more transparent and accountable to all Oregonians.
